Square Enix Not Sure Whether Dragon Quest 11 Will Come to the West Yet

'We have no concrete plans at the moment.'

Dragon Quest 11 3DS

Dragon Quest 11 finally got announced yesterday, and it looked absolutely gorgeous- the PlayStation 4 version looked like moving CGI (though judging by how low density it was, it was very clearly a work in progress), while the 3DS version looked like the perfect homage to the series’ past. Even the NX had a version for it announced, though understandably, we don’t know anything about that one yet.

And if you were hoping to see all of this in the west, well, hold on to your horses. In typical Square Enix fashion, the company has decided to give us all a rude awakening, and confirmed that as of right now, it has no concrete plans for the game’s western localization.

“We don’t have a concrete plan at the moment,” Square Enix told Eurogamer. “However, we will consider it as we’ve done in the past for other Dragon Quest titles. We don’t have further information to share at the moment.”

I mean, I guess they are ‘considering’ it, but considering how Dragon Quest X for the Wii, Wii U, PC, 3DS, and iOS never got localized, or that Dragon Quest 7 and 8 on the 3DS still continue to be in limbo, you will excuse me if I continue to be wary.

Man, what a mess. I really want to play the game too.
