LucasArts Talks About Ending of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2

Looks like LucasArts is really upping the hype meter to their 2008 blockbuster, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. As per a statement released by LucasArts, “The Force Unleashed 2 has a “bold” ending that will leave fans speculating about how the saga might continue.”

This certainly should pique the interest of the legions of Star Wars fans, who’ve always lapped up content in the Expanded Universe (the canon in which all non movie related Star Wars stories take place) eagerly. And while of late, the quality of the storytelling in the tired franchise has certainly dwindled, the original Force Unleashed had an exceptionally strong story, which almost certainly indicates The Force Unleashed 2 will follow in its footsteps.

“There are untold stories that will unfold in TFU 2 and surprise fans of all things Star Wars,’ Exec producer Haden Blackman claimed.  “I think we surprised a lot of fans with that story [of the first game] because we showed the formation of the Rebel Alliance and introduce the concept of the dark secret apprentice.

“We wanted to have that some kind of impact with TFU 2 so there are meaningful ties to the saga. I can’t talk about details but we’ve made some really bold choices regarding the ending that are going to surprise fans and leave them speculating about how the saga might continue.”

Okay, I’m a Star Wars cynic, and even I gotta admit, that sounds interesting. Whether the Emperor will be unveiled to be Obi Wan’s father, or whether Yoda turns out to be Anakin’s dad, I think we can safely file Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2 as a game to look forward to.

The Force Unleashed 2 releases October 26 on Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, PSP and DS.
