Nintendo recently held a stream to release new details on the upcoming highly anticipated 3DS and Wii U installment in the Super Smash Bros series, and while we knew we’d be getting new details to tide us through till the releas edate, we didn’t expect this many.

First of all, let’s bring the best news to you right away: Charizard is going to be a separately playable character now. as is Greninja. Out of all the new characters that have been announced for the game so far (such as Animal Crossin’g Villager and Rosalina, another newcomer), these two have to be the best new additions.

The 3DS version will run at a steady 60 FPS, even when 3D is turned on while the Wii U version will only run at a normal 30 FPS. Maps on the 3DS version of the game include handheld exclusives such as 3D Land, Tortimer Island, Arena Ferox and Spirit Train, whereas other maps such as Skyloft, Wii Fit Studio, Mario Galaxy and Garden of Hope will be exclusive to the Wii U.

Another big shocker that was announced in the stream was the fact that the 3DS version of the game would be out much before the Wii U version. The 3DS version is due out this Summer while the Wii U version will be out in the Winter.

No details on connectivity between the Wii U and 3DS versions were given, but we’re guessing Nintendo are bound to talk about that at some point in the future.

You can take a look at a whole list of all the details that were revealed in the SSB stream that Nintendo held. Pixelitis have compiled an entire list.
