The Division Beta Has Already Been Hacked

This doesn't bode well for the full game...

The Division

The Division is an MMO- this means that the game’s integrity and viability is contingent on its systems being universal, consistent, and fair. Anything like cheatcodes, exploits, or hacks, which compromise or undermine the game’s systems or economy, will simply make the game unfair and undesirable to the community, leading to a mass exodus.

Which is why it is worrying that the beta of the game, at least, has already been hacked. That’s not all, either- Redditor division_throwaway (as the name suggest, an alt account made to discuss just this) discusses just how easy the game really is to hack and exploit.

“However, without stating anything specific on how to ‘cheat’ in this beta. It’s scarily simple. Everything from ammo count, level XP, Dark Zone currency, player speed are all CLIENT trusted, and take time to sync via server time.

“For example. Infinite ammo is possible by removing the instruction that’s responsible for adding/subtracting ammo into your player structure.

“Speedhacking is possible by modifying the delta time used in the game’s update.” To back up his claims, he also provided a video showing some of these exploits, which you can see for yourself below.

Let’s hope Ubisoft Massive get on top of the situation before the final game launches, or else it will be dead in the water. At the very least, let’s hope they have an effective anti-cheat system in place.
