The Division: Massive Acknowledges Long TTK, Low Ammo Capacity, High Enemy Health

Also looking into making things less punishing for solo players.

Among the many things addressed with Tom Clancy’s The Division in today’s State of the Game, Ubisoft Massive took the opportunity to talk about issues with Heroic missions, solo player scaling and the high enemy health in the game.

In The Division, you’re currently capped at level 30 while enemies can go up to level 35. It’s an old tool in MMOs to make content harder but The Division takes this to a ludicrous degree on Heroic where a single enemy has millions of hit points (which becomes a bigger issue for solo players but ammo in general is too low overall).

Massive noted that the time to kill was becoming too long for Heroic missions – and while the G36 did help players, it wasn’t a long term solution. The TTK will be addressed in the future (and not through weapon balancing) and overall, the developer is working on some way to make things more difficult without increasing the health of enemies. Unfortunately, that’s going to take time.

As for solo players, Massive noted that the jump in difficulty from Hard to Challenging, especially in the Underground which is meant to scale based on the number of players in one’s team, is being looked into. Some way to make shotgunners less punishing for solo players is also on the drawing board.
