The Last of Us may be set in a post-apocalyptic environment and figure as a third person action game with cover mechanics. But this is no run-and-gun experience – as Naughty Dog earlier pointed out, this is a game where a single enemy can kill you and you must do anything to survive. With that in mind, meet said enemies: The Infected.
In this new video, creative director Neil Druckmann and game director Bruce Straley talked about the origins of the Infected – an effect of nature aggressively reclaiming its territory – while also looking at the relationship that exists between protagonists Joel and Ellie.
Joel is essentially a black market dealer, and must escort Ellie across the United States, avoiding military guards, savages and the Infected along the way. What nature of Ellie’s purpose is yet to be revealed and forms part of the game’s mystique.
The Last of Us is currently scheduled to release on June 12th for PlayStation 3.
