The Witcher 3 Can Be 1080p on Xbox One, Same as on PS4, Thanks to Dynamic Scaling

Take that, resolution wars!

Although the difference is no longer as acute as it used to be, the fact of the matter still remains that for a lot of multiplatform releases, the Xbox One versions inevitably output on a much lower resolution than the PS4 does. One of the games that will output in lower resolution on Xbox One is The Witcher 3, which hits only 900p on Xbox One compared to PS4 version’s 1080p.

However, in a new trailer for the Xbox One version of the game released today, CD Projekt RED revealed a new dynamic scaling feature that can let the game match the PS4 version’s 1080p resolution, at least in most circumstances.

“The video you’re now watching is grabbed directly from an Xbox One console. We’ve been working to give gamers an even better experience on Xbox One and, on day one, we’ll bring you dynamic scaling from 900p to 1080p,” the studio said in a statement.

“We’re not much more than a week before launch, but we’re still fighting for every line of code,” it added. “We want gamers to get the best possible experience we can deliver.”

All in all, the dedication that studios have to eking out the maximum possible performance from Microsoft’s newest console is admirable- and there remains no doubt that, yes, The Witcher 3 does indeed look pretty good on Xbox One with dynamic scaling enabled too.

Still 30FPS. Still lol Console plebs

    • XbotMK1

30 fps bare minimum is perfectly playable and acceptable. Go play your PC in stead of worrying about console framerates and graphics.

    • You Are Flat Out Wrong

I’m sorry I’m too busy laughing at you, John Derp

      30FPS is a joke. 60FPS is a standard. A Standard the POS4 can’t reach :^)

    • XbotMK1

Repeating yourself like a child won’t make your lies reality and it won’t change how flawed PC gaming is. Most games that sell on PC have low quality graphics. Most PC gamers don’t have a PC that is strong enough to run most newer games at 1080p and 60 fps. So, 60 fps isn’t anywhere near standard and 60 fps isn’t the only part of a game.

Call of Duty Advanced Warfare and The Last of Us both run at 60 fps on the PS4 proving your just a liar crying like a child. Both of those games look better than the top selling games on PC. Do you see how dumb you are?

There is more to playing games than 60 fps. I know more about your favorite platform than you do. It’s time for you to stop repeating yourself and crying about consoles getting the attention.

    • You Are Flat Out Wrong

A $350 PC runs COD AW better than the PS4 John Derp. And you have never ever known more about “My platform” as your consistent ignorance and my mocking of your ignorance shows.

Oh and the last Steam Hardware survey showed most PC Gamers now have a PC that can reliably do 1080P 60FPS on most games.

      60FPS is a standard. 30FPS is a joke :^)

  • Starman

Now what !!!!! take that !

    • XbotMK1

But I thought you said resolution doesn’t matter and you can’t see the difference anyways.

  • XbotMK1

You stated, “can let the game match the PS4 version’s 1080p resolution, at least in most circumstances.”

LOL Nice try. You haven’t analyzed or compared either version. You don’t know how often the Xbox One version actually stays at 1080p. You haven’t presented any facts to back your claim, such as framerate. With each new article, Gamingbolt looks more and more like Microsoft shills or Xbox fan boys.

You’ve also revealed your hypocrisy. You’ve expressed many times before how resolution gate is dumb.

Yet, you continue to make articles comparing PS4 versions with Xbox One versions. You express happiness, joy, and provokative behavior when Xbox One gets a bump in performance or can match the PS4 in resolution yet you continue to ignore the fact that the PS4 has considerabley stronger hardware so naturally it “should” outperform the Xbox One. But you express boredom, negligence, uninterest in regards to PS4 performance. You make countless articles obsessing over Direct X12, hyping it up with lies and click-bait headliners. You constantly lie against factors that favor PS4 performance but you use lies to favor Xbox One performance.

Hypocrite: A person who professes beliefs and opinions that he or she does not hold in order to conceal his or her real feellings or motives.

Cool story bro… need a napkin to clean those tears? Oh and by the way you should look in a mirror when talking about hypocrisy because out of the many hypocrites out there you are the king.

    • XbotMK1

How did you know I was crying… of laughter? LOL

Care to elaborate how I’m a hypocrite?

    • Mark

MK1, dynamic 900p/1080p scaling means the game’s gonna run native 1080 when there’s not much action on screen, ie. no big load on the system, which is most of the time, since we see Giralt running and horse riding much, and at times, fighting. Same with COD:AW, but with less action here. Explosions and mass data crunching on the CPUs’ when the res will drop (really only natively anyway, as no final image will be 900p output to the tv screen). Basically, there’s more “looking” and “watching” than there is fighting inherent to almost all rpgs. I think this was in Pramath’s mind, could be wrong.

Also, Gbolt praises and criticizes both systems imo. They’ve actually been skeptics of DX12’s performance on the X1 all last yr. And, I’ve never seen them alluding to the Xbox being 100% on par with the PS4 hardware wise, I just see it that they admire devs gettin the most outta the hardware, especially considering so many buggy games launching. Yes they do praise the PS4 for what its hardware can do. Gbolt isn’t perfect, but it’s pretty balanced imo.

    • XbotMK1

Nice try. You don’t have a clue what you’re typing about. You don’t know how often it will run at 1080p.

Don’t defend Gamingbolt. They’re hypocrites and bias journalists who lie for the sake of clicks and views. They don’t care about you.

They’ve spewed missinformation many times in their articles. They spit half *ssed articles out while neglecting journalistic integrity.

I wonder why Xbox fan boys are defending Gamingbolt? Interesting LOL

    • Mark

Haha. “GAMINGBOLT’S BIASED”!!! Have at it…

    • You Are Flat Out Wrong

Sick Meltdown, John Derp. You must have been mashing the keyboard in tears with that one.

POS4 is still static outdated hardware just like the xbone. If GB told the truth. They would tell you to ignore consoles being underpowered weaksauce garbage and buy a good gaming PC where Vulkan and Direct X12 will shine and PC gamers will laugh as they get huge optimizations while the consoles are still stuck at silky smooth 30FPS. There’s nothing good about the POS4 at all. So why report on any strengths? It has none. Loser :^)

    • XbotMK1

Your every comment: “HUR… DUR…. my PC DERP can outperform your console DERPA DERPA DUR DUR” LOL

How many years have you been waiting for a low level API like DX12 and Vulcan on your over priced PC only to have to buy new hardware once newer games come out? And what happens if PC suddenly has an industry wide change in architecture and can’t run DX games anymore? What happens if Microsoft starts abusing their power over Windows and DX like they did with Games for Windows Live? What if Steam has a wide spread network failure that results in you losing your game licenses?

There are many problems with PC. The consoles will make due and people will continue to prefer consoles while you continue cry and scream about your underutilised specs and garbage fractured network on PC. LOL

    • You Are Flat Out Wrong

Another meltdown John Derp. I can hear you crying

Turned out Sony can remove the licences on your games and brick your console at any time thanks to PT. And now PC hardware is ahead of the curve, it will always be ahead of consoles.

You are a peasant. Your PS4 can be bricked at any time and games can be removed. This is the future you want.

Meanwhile on PC, we have freedom. Freedom to move OS. Freedom to use different clients. Freedom. Something you will never understand. :^)

  • Charles – The Great and Powerf

Witcher 3 looks better on Xbox One than PS4 and you can snap TV! lol. PS-Boring

  • Mark

Hmmm, although there may be some frame drops, this thing still looks solid enough not to get in the way of enjoyment. That was my main concern. Lookin so good now.
