After so many years of hype, multiple delays, and a lot of anticipation, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is almost here- it will be releasing on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC on May 19, and as that release date hurtles closer, we get to know more and more about the game, as well as the development that it underwent.

The newest snippet of information and trivia that has been shared with us is a look at the behind the scenes development of the title, and an insight into the development process of its studio, CD Projekt RED. It’s fascinating to get a closer look at this studio, which has rapidly evolved from being one of the smaller, independent game developers releasing their titles to a niche audience, to one of the major names in the industry, releasing one of the most anticipated games of the year.

    “… and more hype.”

At least the hype for The Witcher 3 is justified by the dozens of amazing segments of gameplay CDPR has released to the public. The biggest red-flag in my opinion is when a game is massively hyped based on only a few screenshots (or better yet… photo-mode shots), 5 minutes of video, and all the mouth-breathing rabid fanboys come pouring out of the woodwork proclaiming GOTY and other baseless nonsense. A prime example would be The Order 1886. The sheep over at NeoGaf are still trying to polish that turd.

There is a problem when 5 minutes of video is 5% of the game, and that 5% of the game isn’t the game at all.
