THQ Will Not Complete Del Toro’s ‘inSane’ Trilogy If First Game Is Not A Success

Last week at GDC Danny Bilson, vice-president of THQ’s core games, spoke about the upcoming inSane franchise, a planned trilogy of games from the mind of Guillermo Del Toro:

“We have aspirations to make a trilogy,” Bilson told press at GDC. “If the first game doesn’t work, there won’t be a trilogy. It’s not complicated.”

Bilson compared to having a Hollywood industry attitude: “If Avatar had been a flop then there wouldn’t be two more sequels. And if the first Matrix wasn’t a success there wouldn’t be two more sequels… We have to succeed on the first one. And then we have to succeed on the second one! And then you can make the third one. It’s not really that arrogant, if you will, to plan a trilogy because we’re very realistic.”

Thanks to Joystiq for the info.

Only time will tell how well this directorial turn will go. Games are notorious for there inability to be translated well into film, lets if the mind of one of the greatest directors of all time transitions into this medium.

    aaaaaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwwww
Benicio Del toro better hop on that. I was actually really curious to see what he has up his sleeve for this game. It looks like some horror/thriller flick. I love his work as a director so I’m hoping I’ll love his work as a game developer.
