Respawn Entertainment has been making the news quite a lot lately. On top of announcing Titanfall 2 for Xbox One, PS4 and PC, the developer celebrated the one year anniversary of the first game. In the process, it revealed a deal where all the DLC map packs were free for Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC players.

While assumed to be a limited deal, the official Titanfall Twitter has clarified that, “This content is free starting now and will remain free for all users who purchase Titanfall for Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC.”

This comes off long-time criticisms of the map packs fracturing the community. Given Respawn’s desire to emulate Turtle Rock Studios’ approach with Evolve – whose maps and modes will be free while custom skins and characters will have to be purchased – it seems to be aware of the criticism and is taking the first steps to address it.
