Transistor to Debut on PlayStation 4 in Early 2014, Indie Dev Can Self-Publish on Console

Supergiant set to make its console debut.

Transistor
Bastion creator Supergiant Games recently announced that they’ll be making their console debut by releasing the upcoming action adventure title Transistor for the PlayStation in early 2014.

Meanwhile, VP of third-party relations Adam Boyes has stated that indie developers will be able to self-publish their games on the PlayStation 4. He stated that the vision of the PS4 being an open platform is crystal clear. Which is just dandy at this point, given how the conference itself is quite sobering in comparison to Microsoft’s barn-burner.

Other indie games that will be heading to the PlayStation Don’t Starve, Mercenary Kings, Octodad: Dadliest Catch and more. Which is interesting, considering some – if not most – of the games mentioned have already been released on current gen platforms. Not quite the rain of exclusives and backing from indie devs we were expecting.

Then again, Jonathon Blow’s The Witness has yet to make an appearance. Stay tuned for more to come.
