Kojima Productions’ Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain has reached the number one sales position among games in the UK according to Gfk Chart-Track and what’s even more intriguing is that 72 percent of sales were on PS4.

Even more interestingly, despite this strong performance, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Batman: Arkham Knight had stronger openings when they first released. Regardless, this is Konami’s first number one game in the UK for this year and that’s an achievement.

Mad Max debuted at second place in the UK with Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, Until Dawn and Disney Infinity 3.0 making up the rest of the top 5, all of them being relatively new releases. Grand Theft Auto 5 is still hanging in there at sixth place followed by LEGO Jurassic World, Minecraft on PlayStation and Xbox, and Batman: Arkham Knight.

Though this week doesn’t have any major releases, we will see Destiny: The Taken King and Forza Motorsport 6 out next week so stay tuned for more details.
