Wii U twice as powerful as the Xbox 360; doesn’t match expectations of some studios

Posted By | On 25th, Jan. 2012

According to sources close to Develop, Wii U will be twice as powerful as Xbox 360, which is a 6 year old console. Now, we don’t have accurate specifications of what is inside the system, but it is expected to pack in a R700 GPU, and about 512MB RAM.

We urge you to take this rumour with a pinch of salt, as when a new hardware launches there is bound to be a lot of misinformation, but Develop is a credible in most situations.

It is also mentioned that some developers are displeased with the system due to their expectations being lowered and they’ve had to “de-scale their plans”.

IGN reports that, Xbox360’s successor will be six times as powerful as the Xbox 360, so the Wii U may end up being underpowered when compared to Sony and MS’ systems.

Stay tuned for more information regarding these and other leaks at GB, as we strive to bring them to you as we get our hands on them.
