Microsoft has revealed that its Xbox E3 Media Briefing will take place on June 9th at 9.30 AM PDT, and much like last year – except without all the DRM and used games controversies – we’re going to be seeing lots of games.

This is according director of programming for Xbox Live, Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb, who revealed on Reddit that as far as the length of the conference goes, “Time is TBD” but when it comes to the content, “we have lot’s of games to show ;)”

That’s not all. Chief of Staff for the Microsoft Devices group Aaron Greenberg also spoke on Twitter about more games. In response to a fan saying that more awesome games were needed at the moment, Greenberg responded, “More games you shall get! :-)”

What’s interesting was his next tweet, where Greenberg said, “Yeah this year feels special, can focus on the games!” We know that Microsoft will be launching its Xbox Originals service in June and bringing original TV content to the Xbox One. E3 would seem like a good place to promote it but for the rest of the year, Microsoft seems firmly focused on the gaming side of things.

Does that mean titles like Sunset Overdrive and Quantum Break will receive release dates? Maybe some Halo Anniversary 2? That remains to be seen but for Xbox boss Phil Spencer’s sake, we really hope we see less execs on stage this time around.

Microsoft has really been hyping E3 this year. I wish Sony would start making some noise

Oh look, the spin is starting already.

MS is going to kill it with games. Sony will get a pass… because “they don’t need to put out games, they’re clearly already won 6 months into this gen”

Sony hasn’t said anything because they have no money for games. MS is going to trounce all over Sony this year, but the ponies will spin spin spin. It’ll be hilarious.

Sony’s 1st parties are ALL working on PS4 games. The gaming division is making a profit and is well funded. You are dumb, WRONG and evil.

PS4 has the superior version of all console AAA multiplats, The Order, Driveclub, MLB 14: The Show, Deep Down, Uncharted 4, TLOU Remake, more dev support including indies, free to play games and MMOs like FFXIV and Warframe, and unannounced 1st party games (Gran Turismo, God of War, Media Molecule, Quantic Dream, etc.) Titanfall 2 and future 3rd party games will almost certainly be on PS4.

Recently Sony has filed trademarks or had leaks for no less than 6 games. Entwined, Kill Strain, Blood Borne, Dark Chronicles, Project Beast and Guns Up. Expect a big E3 reveal of new games.

Why do you even bother copy-pasting this over and over and over again? If that’s your opinion, fine then just enjoy your Playstation! Isn’t that what matters?

Sony’s been making statements about there’s being filled with games, there have been a load of game leaks from them lately too.

Sony’s also stated that all of their 1st party studios are working on games, so their E3 should be pretty jam packed full of exclusives.

e3 should be pretty interesting … cant wait

  • Hates bad writers.

Microsoft has done nothing but crap the bed at E3 when it came to the 360 in the last 6 years, with the exception of the last E3 actually being really good. For once you have me excited Microsoft, and for once I think you get it. God speed, Microsoft, I want to see what you have this year, you’ve impressed me with this new outlook on those things called “games”.

Unfortunately for M$ we gamers compared to other fans have good memory even going as far as the video game crash of `1983 and we will always be reminded of how anti-consumer M$ really is. Backstabbing even their most loyal customers.

This year PlayStation and Steam will be the real contenders as they are really passionate and dedicated to great games and to the welfare of the gamer. Unlike M$ who only cares about EA and Gamestop.

With all due respect but neither Microsoft nor Sony cares about the gamers. Some people working there might, some don’t. But the companies in general don’t. They care about profit. Sony has been extremely bad for me this past generation. If I had a long memory as you suggest, I wouldn’t be able to play any game from any developer. So I must be open-minded about Sony trying to do better then last gen. And the same goes for Microsoft with the E3 last year.

Could that be a hint of a new Star Wars franchise??
