Xbox Live “Free Games With Gold” Program Launches with Defence Grid: The Awakening

NOT Assassin’s Creed II and Halo 3.

Remember that “Free Games with Gold” Program Microsoft had announced at its E3 presser for the Xbox 360, and how, “to kick off that program I’d like to share just two of the titles we’re going to offer over the next few months – Assassin’s Creed II, and Halo 3” (word for word from the presentation)?

It seems that’s far from the case, as Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb recently tweeted that no release date was given for the release of either game.

Instead, Defence Grid: The Awakening will be the first “Free Game With Gold” this month, which will be yours to keep permanently. Feeling satisfied?

It’ll be interesting to see what Microsoft has to say about this given how the words “to kick off the program” were used so explicitly in the E3 presser for Halo 3 and Assassin’s Creed II. Or maybe these games were mentioned at the presser to generate enthusiasm since Microsoft knew no one would care about Defence Grid?

This just goes to show that Xbox is going the wrong way about everything botched up PR by them completely since its not even given decent games im turning off my subs and going off to PS3/4 now its upsetting how they have botched this so badly.

Defence Grid: The Awakening is an XBLA game and not part of Games with Gold. The first Games with Gold was Fable 3.

Every post I read about the free with gold announcement has been nothing but people whining and complaining about the games chosen so far as though they are entitled to something far greater for free from microsoft. It’s pathetic! BTW…defense grid has an 8.9/10 on IGN so quit complaining…I’m talking to you Kull.

    • Truth Hurts

Oh my god…IGN gave it an 8.9! Why that must mean it’s a good game because one reviewer said so! Or seeing as it’s IGN they most likely didn’t get paid enough to give it a 9.0 or more.

They mentioned top end games so several people would resign there live accounts. The only reason I renewed my account was because games like halo and ac where mentioned. I am a little more than disappointed that they kick things of with a c level arcade game. Most likely the good games won’t come till late on so they can get as much money from the consumer as possible.
