Xbox One DVR

Microsoft announced a ton of different upcoming features for the Xbox One, one of them being the ability to DVR television shows as they air and play them back across various Windows devices.

However, it’s now been confirmed to VG247 that the Xbox One DVR will only be available in three countries when it launches in 2016. These are the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom. Details for other countries like Germany and France would be announced “at a later date” but it will remain to be seen when they actually release.

The Xbox One DVR functionality is interesting for TV viewers but it will require external HDD capability for recording shows. What are your thoughts on the same and when do you think it will eventually come to different countries? Let us know in the comments below and stay tuned for more information on the same in the coming year.

Well, Spencer claims they will have to do better in the EU.
Launching in some select countries isnt “doing better”.
Im not satisfied about the functions around TV, because almost nothing is supported in my country, not even Kinect. And soon W10 will arrive with Cortana and all non-english speaking countries will not get it.
Today I have to choose if I want to be able to watch TV and use Kinect/OneGuide.
I cant even search for channels if I use current settings (I use British), so I have to switch to Swedish and live without Kinect, without OneGuide and a whole bunch of the reasons of which I chose to buy the Xbox One.

they cant just offer it because of the licensing in place in countrys. It took them ages to even allow the OneGuide to get setup because cable companies have control over there guides so deals have to be made. Recording stuff is a whole other ball game and have to be careful about copy protection and all that stuff

Recordings tuff is no problem here, we already pay extra for every hardware with a physical HDD, DVD and Blu-Ray discs because of that.
Its a cruel thing called CopySwede.

can be different in other countrys thats the point.

can understand this for use here in the UK where the major channels (and the force subscribed BBC) are all still available through TV aerials.
