A brilliant punishment for offenders.

36. Killer Instinct

Killer Instinct, the free-to-play Xbox One fighting game, developers have announced that in their latest update, they are going to implement a punishment system which condemns players who have a high enough rate of mid-battle disconnections. Players have been disconnecting mid-battle in Killer Instinct in order to to save themselves from a loss in the game’s ranking system.

The punishment will be as such: Players who disconnect in 15% of their first ten matches will be forced to go to what the developers are calling “jail”. In jail, “prisoners” will only be allowed to fight other gamers who have also been sent to jail. Additionally, any match that results in the player being sent to jail will count as an automatic loss for that player.

Repeat offenders will suffer additional consequences as well. Every time a player is sent to Killer Instinct jail, their sentence will increase by 24 hours. At this time the maximum sentence one can incur is five days.
