The newest update for the Xbox One is now available, and it’s a big one, as it will be introducing Microsoft’s own livestreaming service, Beam, and integrating it into the system itself. That apart, the update also overhauls the Home menu, and makes the Guide a bit more intuitive and faster.

“One major goal for this release is to make streaming your Xbox gameplay even easier,” Major Nelson said on his blog, explaining the changes and additions in this new update. “And by updating the navigation of the Xbox console through the new Guide, we’re aiming to put the features and experiences you love the most right at your fingertips.”

You can check out a video showing off the new update for yourself below. The update is available to download now- if you are on Windows 10, you can expect an update on April 11 that should bring Beam to that platform, too.

Does this remove the Multitasking Snap an app?

    • Troy Marcel

      Not really

    • Gamez Rule

So you can still Snap an App? If so how?

    • Troy Marcel

You can still say Xbox snap friends or achievements, not sure about others though.

    • Gamez Rule

Oh not good then. So has this update removed the *double guide button press* to bring up the list of apps to snap?

    • Troy Marcel

      Double tap is still there.

    • Gamez Rule

Thanks for looking into that for me fella.

    • Troy Marcel

It will take some time to get use to it.

    • Gamez Rule

Wow, now it takes 3 button presses to get too the Home page instead of the single button push beforehand? And the Snap an App is gone completely so now we can’t use Youtube and game together? That’s a step backwards.

    • Troy Marcel

It was done to make things faster as before it was pretty resource heavy. Once you get used to the short cuts it will make things a little easier, but still it is a pain.

    • Gamez Rule

To be honest I think it’s a step backwards. It maybe quicker, but MS have removed features gamers and streamers used the Xbone for. What a joke of an update in that respect.

    • Troy Marcel

It is what it is unfortunately

    • Gamez Rule

      So true.

  • Mr Xrat

lmao no one cares about Beam.
