Xbox One Requires Kinect To Run

‘Kinect is now an essential and integrated part of the platform.’

Well, the rumors were true. The upcoming Xbox One console will necessarily require a Kinect to run.

Citing ‘integrated functionality’ as the cause in their Q&A, Microsoft said: “The all-new Kinect is now an essential and integrated part of the platform. By having it as a consistent part of every Xbox One, game and entertainment creators can build experiences that assume the availability of voice, gesture and natural sensing, leading to unrivaled ease of use, premium experiences and interactivity for you.”

Admittedly the new Kinect looked good; however, its integration into the base package raises two significant objections, one being that, unlike the original Kinect, which was just a peripheral, the new one might be mandated to be utilized in every game on the platform, detracting from the core experience a little.

The second, more idealistic objection is that by mandating Kinect to even use the next console, Microsoft is forcing a gimmick upon its users, and not even giving them a choice.

We can chose not to buy a Xbox 1 at all, I know I will never talk to my TV or wave my arms to play a game, I am very fit, gaming for me is to relax from the training, races and adventures I am training for.

I will miss out on crackdown 3 but I am sure the system I go for will offer me a game without the need to move my arms about.

I may stick with the Xbox 360 then PC I also believe core gamers are going to move back to older systems to get away from this forced upon gen this could amount to 3 million gamers not buying the Xbox one in the first year, if you lose your fan base for sheep people it is very hard to get them back again

I have been thinking why M$ thinks it can sell 25 million more Xbox 360s one idea is that a new Xbox 360 will plug in to and be part of the Xbox one.

the new Xbox 360 bundle could come with the new kinect 2 and the new pad and have the ability to play Xbox one games the onlive way the cheap way to play Xbox one game so M$ can sell this £500+ Xbox one PC in a box and still offer away for people to still be buying the 360 and still sell its Xbox one games.

Another way could be the end on Xbox gold or the Xbox 360 could simply just be the way the xbox 360 will work with the 2nd TVs in the house that works with the Xbox one.
