Footage shows gameplay along with anime style visuals.

Vanilaware’s 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim was originally announced at the Tokyo Game Show 2015. The game will be directed by George Kamitani and will be published by Atlus. The game has now received a new trailer which was revealed at Sony’s pre-TGS press conference.

The trailer allow viewers a glimpse of the gameplay as well as the anime-style visuals. In the trailers, we see sidescrolling gameplay where different characters who make up the 13 protagonists navigate different areas. These 13 protagonists use mechs in battle as they try to save the world from destruction. Towards the end of the trailer, viewers can also get a brief glimpse of a bullet-hell sequence.

From what we’ve seen, the game seems to be a blend of an adventure game along with action sequences with a heavy emphasis on story. The game is set to release in 2018 for the PS4 and PS Vita in Japan. A North American release is in the works as well, but no other information regarding that is available as of now.
