Vanillaware’s 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim was very much a critical darling, having launched not only to near-universal praise from critics, but also from those who have played it. Of course, as is often the case with Vanillaware games, its critical reception hasn’t exactly been reflected in stellar worldwide sales (thanks largely to the game’s inherently niche nature, being an unusual combination of genres)- though it’s still done decently.
Publisher Atlus recently took to Twitter to announce that 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim has now sold over 200,000 copies in Japan, where the game launched in November 2019, roughly a year before its worldwide launch. There’s no word on where the game’s global sales stand right now, but back in March, that number stood at over 400,000 units. For a niche game that is available only on one platform, those are decent sales- though as 13 Sentinels fans will tell you, it deserves way more.
