Check out that trailer above? Doesn’t it look absolutely slick? You’d be forgiven for thinking that it was some top of the line social racer meant for consoles, especially considering its scope and its budget. I mean, the graphics look stunning. And 25 licensed cars? Social online multiplayer, as well as a newsfeed that links to all the latest and greatest in the car world, from all the top websites, outlets, and blogs?
Well, hold on tight, this isn’t a console game, it’s a mobile game. And not one for a top of the line premium handheld like the PS Vita or Nintendo 3DS either, it’s one meant for iOS devices. It’s called 2K Drive, and it’s a cutting edge racing simulator developed by boutique 2K games studio Lucid Games.
“2K Drive was designed to offer the most comprehensive driving simulation experience in today’s mobile market,” said Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K. “The game successfully combines the appeal of a premier console racing game with some of the leading automotive editorial content available on the Web, to create an all-inclusive entertainment hub for auto-enthusiasts.”
It certainly does look like they got what they wanted over there.
2K Drive is now available for the iPod Touch, iPhone, and iPad worldwide from the App Store. It’s a premium app priced at £4.99, so it won’t have any ‘free to play’ trappings breaking the game balance (looking at you, Real Racing 3).
