Year 2010 is here, so we decided to make an updated list of the most anticipated games of 2010. Check it out.

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker


Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker is an upcoming video game currently in development by Kojima Productions. Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker takes place some time after the events of Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops, and once again you take control of the illustrious Naked Snake, or as he is more commonly called Big Boss and new this time his mercenary group Militaires Sans Frontieres.

Dark Void

Dark Void is an upcoming video game being developed by Airtight Games and published by Capcom on Unreal Engine 3. The game’s story will center around a cargo pilot named William Augustus Grey who crashes in the Bermuda Triangle. From there, he is teleported to a parallel universe where he encounters other humans, called Survivors. Together, Will and the survivors must battle an alien race known as the Watchers to return to Earth.

Gran Turismo 5

Gran Turismo 5 is being developed by Polyphony Digital and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. Gran Turismo 5 is arguably Sony’s top exclusive of next year. The franchise has always delivered a visually impressive, tight controlled, chart busting, and critically acclaimed racing experience.

StarCraft II


StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty is being developed by Blizzard Entertainment as a sequel to the award-winning 1998 video game StarCraft. Set in the 26th century in a distant part of the Milky Way galaxy, the game is built around three species: the Terrans, human exiles fromEarth; the Zerg, a race of insectoids; and the Protoss, a species with vast psionic power. Wings of Liberty specifically focuses on the Terrans, while the expansions Heart of the Swarm and Legacy of the Void focus on the Zerg and Protoss, respectively.

No More Heroes 2

No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle is directed by Suda51, developed by Grasshopper Manufacture, published by Ubisoft. Grasshopper Manufacture CEO Goichi Suda says the company will need to look beyond Wii if it is to evolve No More Heroes into a major franchise. He further added “I really want to make NMH a big franchise,” he told us on a recent trip to see No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle, “and with this second episode have bigger success. I’m putting a lot of care into developing this IP, as I feel there’s a lot of potential. “I think this is the last NMH that is going to be developed on Wii,” he added. “To expand NMH to new possibilities, we need a new platform. Wii is a great platform, but we’ve done everything we can with it now.” Sounds good for the console owners.

Red Steel 2

Red Steel 2 is being developed by Ubisoft Paris and is a sequel to Red Steel. Red Steel 2 is played in a first-person perspective where players can alternate between shooting and sword fighting. Swordplay has been refined with the aid of Wii MotionPlus. Players will be able to fight up to six enemies at a time, and will be able to deflect their opponents bullets with their sword.

Metroid: Other M

Metroid: Other M is being developed by Team Ninja and Nintendo SPD Production Group 1. The game features both 2D and 3D gameplay in both first- and third-person perspectives. Fils-Aime stated that Metroid: Other M would “take you deeper into Samus’s story,”and also noted that the game would be a return to the style of the traditional series as opposed to the Prime series, though the game would have a “harder edge”.

Heavy Rain

Heavy Rain is being developed by French studio, Quantic Dream and directed by Quantic Dream’s founder and CEO David Cage. Heavy Rain is an upcoming PS3 exclusive that is currently planned to be released next year. It is developed by Quantic Dream so you can expect a large emphasis on story.

MAG

MAG (Massive Action Game) is being developed by Zipper Interactive. The highly anticipated Massive Action Game (MAG) should be on your “to get” list. Massive Action Game, in short “MAG” is one of the most anticipated exclusives for the Playstation 3 in 2010.

Max Payne 3

Max Payne 3 is developed by Rockstar Vancouver and published by Rockstar Games. According to Rockstar’s Sam Houser, they are starting a new chapter of Max’s life with the game. “This is Max as we’ve never seen him before, a few years older, more world-weary and cynical than ever.”

Final Fantasy XIII


Final Fantasy XIII is being developed and published by Square Enix. The concept for Final Fantasy XIII‘s battle system is to maintain the strategic nature of command-based battles. The system stemmed from a desire to create battles similar to those found in Final Fantasy VII Advent Children. Like those in Final Fantasy XII, enemies are integrated into the world environment.

Just Cause 2

Just Cause 2 is being developed by Avalanche Studios and published by Eidos Interactive. Just Cause 2 uses a new version of the Avalanche Engine, Avalanche Engine 2.0; an updated version of the engine used in Just Cause. The game will be set on the other side of the world, compared to Just Cause, on the fictional tropical island of Panau in Southeast Asia. Rico Rodriguez will return as the protagonist, who has to overthrow the evil dictator Baby Panay and confront his former boss, Tom Sheldon.

Star Wars: The Old Republic


Star Wars: The Old Republic (TOR) is an upcoming massively multiplayer online role-playing game based in the Star Wars universe. Currently in development by BioWare and a supplemental team at BioWare Edmonton, the game was first announced on October 21, 2008 at an invitation-only press event.The Old Republic will be released as a PC title.

Supe Mario Galaxy 2

Super Mario Galaxy 2 is an upcoming platforming video game in development for the Nintendo Wii. First announced at E3 2009, it is the sequel to Super Mario Galaxy.

Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days

Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days is an upcoming video game sequel to the 2007 video game Kane & Lynch: Dead Men. The game will be published by Square Enix and released for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Microsoft Windows platforms.

Crysis 2

Crysis 2 is an upcoming video game developed by Crytek, published by Electronic Arts, due for release on Microsoft Windows, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in 2010. It is the sequel to the 2007 video game Crysis and its spin-off, Crysis Warhead, as well as being the second of a planned trilogy. It will be the first game to use the new CryEngine 3 development engine.

Crackdown 2

Crackdown 2 is a sandbox-style third-person shooter video game developed by Ruffian Games and published by Microsoft Game Studios, expected for release in 2010. The game is being developed exclusively for the Xbox 360 and is a direct sequel to the 2007 video game Crackdown.

Alan Wake

Alan Wake is an upcoming video game being developed by Remedy Entertainment, the Finnish company behind the Max Payne games. Alan Wake is a “psychological action thriller” inspired by Twin Peaks, Lost and also the works of Stephen King. It is due for release on Xbox 360 in May 2010. Remedy Entertainment has revealed that the Alan Wake project is now an Xbox 360 exclusive – as the PC version has been shelved indefinitely.

God of War III

God of War III is a forthcoming installment in the God of War series, currently in development for the PlayStation 3.The game was announced at E3 2008  and is due for release in March 2010. It is the fifth and final chapter in the series chronologically, after God of War: Chains of Olympus, God of War, God of War: Betrayal, and God of War II. The Ultimate Edition was announced on October 30, 2009 and will include exclusive content. At the 2009 Spike Video Game Awards, God of War III was awarded the Most Anticipated Game of 2010 award.

Halo Reach

Halo: Reach is an upcoming first-person shooter video game for the Xbox 360. It is part of the Halo series, and it is scheduled for release during autumn 2010. Its world premiere was held on December 12, 2009, at the Spike Video Game Awards.

Lost Planet 2

Lost Planet 2 is an upcoming science fiction third-person shooter video game with some RPG elements. The game is the sequel to Lost Planet: Extreme Condition, taking place ten years after the events of the first game, on the same fictional planet. It is both developed and published by Capcom. The game is being developed for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Originally set to be released in early 2010, Capcom has delayed the game until after April 2010, with no specific release date being confirmed. A free demo is available for download from Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network, however.

Dante’s Inferno

Dante’s Inferno is an upcoming third-person action-adventure video game to be published by Electronic Arts and in development by Visceral Games (formerly EA Redwood Shores). The game is very loosely based on Inferno, the first book of Dante Alighieri’s epic poem, The Divine Comedy. The story of the game is written by Will Rokos, who wrote the film Monster’s Ball.

Mass Effect 2

Mass Effect 2 is an upcoming action role-playing video game under development by BioWare Edmonton with assistance from BioWare Montreal, and set to be published by Electronic Arts. The game is the sequel to Mass Effect, and will be released on Microsoft Windows and Xbox 360 in North America on January 26, 2010, and in Europe on January 29, 2010.

Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Conviction

Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Conviction is the fifth installment in the Splinter Cell video game series. The game is being developed by Ubisoft Montreal, developers of Splinter Cell, Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory and the sixth generation versions of Splinter Cell: Double Agent. It is scheduled for release on February 23, 2010 and will be available for the Microsoft Windows and Xbox 360 platforms.

Bioshock 2

BioShock 2 is a survival horror first-person shooter video game, being developed by 2K Marin and 2K Australia for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 video game consoles, and the Windows operating system. It is the sequel to the critically-acclaimed 2007 video game BioShock. The game is scheduled for simultaneous release on February 9, 2010 for all platforms.

The game is set in fictional dystopian city Rapture in alternative history 1970, a decade after the events of BioShock. The protagonist and player-controlled character is a Big Daddy, a being who has had its organs and skin grafted into an atmospheric diving suit. The first of its kind, the player-controlled Big Daddy reactivates with no recollection of the past decade’s events, and scours the city in a vain attempt to relocate the Little Sister that he was paired with. When it becomes obvious that Rapture’s leader Sofia Lamb will become responsible for the city’s destruction, the Big Daddy attempts to overthrow Ms Lamb and her army of Big Sisters.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is an upcoming video game in development by EA Digital Illusions CE and to be published by Electronic Arts for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. The game is a direct sequel to Battlefield: Bad Company. The game was announced at one of Electronic Arts’ earnings conferences and was showcased for the first time at E3 2009. The release date for Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is March 2, 2010, as announced at the EA press conference at Gamescom.

Maffia II

Mafia II is an upcoming 2010 sandbox-style third-person shooter video game which is the sequel to Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven. It is being developed by 2K Czech, previously known as Illusion Softworks, and will be published by 2K Games.

Mafia 2 was announced in August 2007 at the Leipzig Games Convention. and will be available for PlayStation 3, Microsoft Windows and Xbox 360. It is currently due to be released some time between May and the end of July 2010.

Dead Space 2

Dead Space 2 is an upcoming survival horror third-person shooter video game developed by Visceral Games and published by Electronic Arts for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. It is the sequel to Dead Space. Dead Space 2 has a multiplayer mode.
