Nintendo will be happy at these stats after all they are the ones who released them. The 3DS is selling well worldwide and is doing fantastic in Japan, where it recently outsold the hapless Vita 46:1, and when you consider the amount of momentum it has, these sales should really help to get third-party games.
“The 3DS family of systems has now sold nearly six million units in the United States alone, Nintendo announced today. In all, the system has moved over 22 million units globally as of September 30, with software sales at 64.45 million units,” Gamespot reports.
The 3DS did have a tough start when it launched at a massive $250 price which was rejected by consumers due to being unattractive at that price point. A panic price cut by Nintendo helped steady the ship and is now on going on full sails (Yes I got that from Assassin’s Creed 3).
They have also announced a 3DS bundle for Black Friday which includes Super Mario 3D Land. Not a bad deal, eh?
