3DS Ambassador Games To Get Upgraded With Multiplayer Support

Following on the heels of the 3DS price cut, Nintendo quickly announced that early adopters of 3DS, who paid the full $249 price for the handheld, would be eligible for 20 free games as part of special ‘3DS Ambassadors’ program. These games will include 10 NES games an 10 GBA games, and they would be available exclusively to the ‘ambassadors.’

Critics were quick to point out that these were probably cheaply emulated ROMs of the old games, providing Nintendo with an easy cop out without actually having to pay anything to pacify dissenting early adopters. It appears that these criticisms may have been wrong, however, since a new report states that the 3DS Ambassadors games will all be updated to incorporate ‘simultaneous multiplayer,’ which seems to be a really fancy way of saying ‘local co-op.’

The 10 NES games, which will be released on 1st September, will initially have no multiplayer but will be perfect emulations of the old games. Later on but before year end, they will be upgraded with multiplayer for free.

No details about the GBA games have ben made public as of this time.
