In reply to YOUDIEMOFO. Nintendo has been on top the handheld console market since the original Gameboy. When it comes to portable gaming systems Nintendo has always had the edge. Even the spectacular Vita failed to overcome the 3DS. So I think Nintendo has an opportunity here to keep and even expand its handheld market, but it will come through the concession of the home console market. Having the ability to play handheld games on a larger screen, but ultimately, the Switch is a handheld console.

If this is a consolidation of Nintendo’s handheld and console market, then there is a chance for success even with less powerful hardware. Nintendo needs to market it as the 3DS successor though, not the Wii U successor. Gamers will expect less from a handheld that can function as a console. It needs to be received that way and not as a console that can double as a handheld.

Switch is already a hit with the masses and will have 3rd party support along with the greatest 1st party content in the industry

Weak hardware leads to loss of 3rd party.
Sales will show them leaving hardware and making games for the 7-12 year old market for Android & iOS suits them perfectly.

Hopefully Nintendo when recruiting third parties retain them this time while they listen to gamers needs like MS did with the Xbone when they changed the policies to help gamers.

Truth is all console makers need to step up in many ways while keeping what they do best for each brand. Example Sony IMO needs to stop charging high prices for streaming games, MS needs IMO to keep console exclusives, and nintendo needs more powerful hardware to keep up with current gen needs.
