7000 Wii U consoles stolen in a heist

December NPD should be interesting.

A Nintendo distribution center in SeaTac’s Seattle Air Cargo has been raided and 7000 Wii U consoles were stolen. Now you can probably do the match but it amounts to $2 million. The console is facing shortage in the US, so this should be a setback for Nintendo, although, 7000 consoles aren’t that much when you compare the monthly sales which are 300k.

The serial numbers of the batches can be traced by Nintendo so it’s only a matter of them selling the consoles again and the buyer going online with it, so that Nintendo can know from where these consoles are going online.

According to ABCnews, “The thieves drove two large diesel trucks into a Nintendo distribution site inside Seattle Air Cargo on Saturday evening around 9 o’clock. The thieves worked together to snatch up thousands of consoles by operating forklifts within the warehouse. Afterward, they loaded the Wiis into two 53-foot semi-truck trailers waiting outside the center along with another large box-truck van.”

This was said by an officer who was at the scene after the crime and he couldn’t believe the method the thieves used. He said it was straight from the movies.

“I’ve been a cop for 28 years, and I’ve never seen anything like this,” said Sgt. Cindy West. “This has come straight out of the movies.”
