I am just hoping that FF Verses can repair the FF series. I stop buying FF games after I bought FF XII and I noticed how linear and boring that got (The game was good, but it just felt like there something missing, I can’t really explain it.) So, I am hopeful that Square will redeem FF, if not, I am officially done with the new games and I will stick to my favorites FF VIII and FF X!

My friend, there are a ton of great ideas you got there in this wishlist.

However, 1st; You can’t say that because Skyrim has this, Square has to have similar – that is opinion. What is fact, however is that Square are Japanese, Bethesda – American.

So while it’s all good n dandy to be dissatisfied, you must also understand that they portray the social background, mannerisms and traditions really well AS JAPANESE. You not liking any of these traits are a personal preference, not a broken game design. Agree?

2; Satisfying conclusion is still under the same umbrella. I mean what you might call a bad game other 4.5 million people, who bought FF13 might adore it.

(Yeah, I wasn’t one of ’em. I hate its guts, poo fight system and an absolute lack of Final Fantasy Formula apart from music and visuals).

Also while I just DROOOOOOOL over any tid-bits about Versus 13 I think we might all benefit from just, waiting til Mr Tetsuya decides to reveal the info about…25 years later ? =)

The ones who’ve been hoping for news about this from day 1, know this is funny. Even still.

This article is very, very opinionated. The proclaimed facts are all true however your observation of the other titles is and unfair proclamation of the quality of XIII and XIII-2. I think many people that played or are playing XIII-2 found it to be much improved. I personally though it was a fun and fulfilling game. As for Musser64, its a name, get over it. if they called it anything else would you be bitching, probably not, and if the made an rpg game that wasn’t called Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest people would bitch about it not being called FF or DQ. So accept it or GTFO.

I agree that XIII had its flaws, but saying that it almost destroyed the brand seems kinda ridiculous.

I think you hit all the points I’m looking for. I’m sure this game will be spectacular and I for one still look forward to more Final Fantasy games despite the growing complaints of people clutching the past. If I could see one game of theirs remade in HD it would be FF8, my favorite love story since I was 11. If Versus can compete with that kind of story then they can just have my money because I’ll buy every special edition, toy and coffee mug.

They don’t need to stop making final fantasy games, they just need to make less of them and improve the quality. It used to be that final fantasy meant quality. Up until 10, they took their time making the game and released games tha would entertain for hours and hours. They need to stop pumping out these weak rpgs and slapping the final fantasy name on to sell copies. All that is doing is devaluing the name. The writer of the article is correct about the sequels. They are never up to par with the origional and all it does is waste talent that could be remaking final fantasy 7.
