Dam, ur getting a gpu with HBM, wow. I tell u what, u PC guys are about to be sent to cloud 9. I wanna see PC devs explode brains with DX12. Doesn't even need 4K, just 60fps maybe 2K, with "not of this world" settings haha. Once they get a good grasp of the API in the next 2 yrs, oh crap, make it PC exclusive (imo), and go insane with texture resolution, ray tracing, that Sparse Fluid Simulation feature, & dam, people will think it's a movie. Whew. Ok peace

LOL, yeah, I'm hoping Joe Montana pops up at Gamescon (sp?) If not later this week at E3.

It would be nice to have the extra horsepower; even if it didn't go to resolution. Optimizations will come over time, but games will also become more demanding (as devs push the envelope), so best to have as much hardware leeway as cost and TDP will allow. The hardware aspect is immutable and eventually, coding efforts will hit a wall.

Personally, I've played games my entire life, and never thought much about computer (C64/128, PC) vs. console. They're just more opportunities to play games. The things I'm looking for are entertainment, performance and advancement in gameplay.

Well I hear u man. But for me, even if Microsoft went with 18 CUs, GDDR5, what would we see? The same thing Sony's showing. I've seen both versions of multi-plats @ my bros house. I mean to each his own, but I ain't seeing the benefits from full HD. Why? Prolly many reasons, sitting 5-8 ft away from tv, 45 inch tv, blah blah blah lol. Now if I game @ 2 ft away, 55 inch tv, then I'd get more of clearer objects. But as it stands I don't. And I won't knock anyone for preferring it. Just that there's irrational amount of fanboys who attack someone for not feeling the way they do about it. Seeing Ryse @ 900p, and then Quantum Break, alone warrants what the box can do, provided there's great talent behind it.

So for me, here's my list of what to consider for each system;

1) Exclusives
2) Controller
3) Network Services
4) Multiplat performance

That's my criteria. So even if they beefed up the gpu, if the PS4 gpu is any indication of that translation, I'm sorry but I ain't missing much. That whole resolution debate is so moot to me. I'd rather follow the best studios & devs, cuz they're the ones that can make each console sing, I mean Bethesda killed it! That's how I feel bout this tho man.....oh yeah I give Microsoft's conference a B-. Back compat was big, but WHERE'S JOE MONTANA 16?!

Exactly. Just that XB1 fell short of a rather well established standard by the time of launch and despite developers efforts, still struggles and usually fails to hit 1080p/30 fps. PS4 games usually manage to limp across the dividing line. Microsoft served up this shortcoming to be marketed against them.

What's funny is that console-only lonelies tout 18 CUs and 32 ROPs over 12 CUs and 16 ROPs, when my old 7950 (which has been in a box for over a year I believe) had 28 CUs and 32 ROPs (that many ROPs is overkill for these consoles, but I suspect the designs come in multiples of 16). People buying the PC version of a should be the ones lobbing allegations of "parity".

I feel developers should target 900p for XB1 when it is apparent 1080p will be a struggle with the targeted frame rate. Discretion is the better part of valor. They can make advancements in optimizations and decide where to employ that extra horsepower.

What is also curious is how would things have played out if both Microsoft and Sony gambled on DDR5 supplies being adequate? How close would performance be? Additionally, how would that have impacted supply and either console's availability, splitting between the two and PC GPUs, too?

Well that's my point. Driveclub had better weather than P Cars because, it runs @ half the frame rate. Basically, if u and me are given 1 minute to draw our pictures to tell a full story, I would draw 60 pictures but with little detail to describe each one, and u would draw 30 pics with alot of detail for each. I have more pics (or smoother animation), and u have all the gorgeous effects. That's how this works. So Project Cars & Forza cannot be fairly compared to DriveClub, graphically. It takes P Cars 16 ms (milliseconds) for one frame (picture) to be drawn, by the gpu. It takes DriveClub 33 ms to draw a frame......huge advantage for graphics in favor of DriveClub.

Also, Slightly Mad Studios aren't amateurs. They actually pushed the PS4 cpu & gpu to 95-99% of it's performance, u can google it. It's just they don't have the time to optimize both versions, in contrast to an exclusive game.
