Action SharkPG Maneater Will Launch Exclusively for Epic Games Store

Tripwire Interactive CEO feels that the store "allows developers to take bigger chances and make better games."

Maneater

Hilarious shark-based RPG – or “shaRkPG” if you will – Maneater made a rather memorable debut during the PC Gaming Show at E3 2018. While we knew it would be coming to PC, it seems now that the title will debut exclusively on the Epic Games Store. The recently announced digital platform has been on a rather solid run of garnering exclusives, like Supergiant Games’ Hades and Team Meat’s Super Meat Boy Forever.

Maneater will also launch in the Epic Games Store in 2019. It will release for other platforms like Steam, but that’s only after a full year of exclusivity to the Epic store. Suffice it to say that if you’re really, really interested in playing as a shark, leveling up, and unlocking new perks, the Epic Games Store is your only ticket to do so- for now.

Maneater is developed by Blindside Studios, which created an earlier shark-oriented title in Depth. It’s published by Tripwire Interactive (of Killing Floor fame), and its CEO John Gibson feels that the Epic Games Store is “putting money back” into indie game development. “Epic are doing something unheard of for digital distribution platforms—they are taking risks by putting money back into the independent development ecosystem via funding some games. This allows developers to take bigger chances and make better games than they would be able to otherwise. That’s a win for everyone.”

Stay tuned for more information on Maneater, especially if it’s worth the trouble of role-playing as a shark, in 2019.
