Activision Blizzard Interested in Purchasing Vivendi Stake in Company

Parent company still looking at selling Call of Duty publisher.

Vivendi has been looking for a “variety of options” to sell Activision-Blizzard to, according to CFO Philippe Capron. The hunt has been ongoing for almost a year now, and has seen companies like Microsoft, Time Warner, Tencent, Disney and more showing interest.

Currently, Capron has stated that, “There is a process going at the board level.”

According to the Wall Street Journal, management within Activision Blizzard has been in consideration to purchase some of Vivendi’s stake, which is valued at 61 percent and currently holds a cool $4.3 billion cash in hand. Vivendi’s current stake in Activision-Blizzard is about $8.1 billion.

Regardless of who obtains ownership of the company, it would most definitely be to their advantage. Call of Duty is at the biggest high it’s ever been, with the next game Call of Duty: Ghosts to be revealed at the upcoming Microsoft event for the next Xbox. Other popular franchises include World of Warcraft, StarCraft, Diablo and Skylanders.
