In what is perhaps the most anti-climactic way of doing so, a SEGA representative recently spoke to IGN about the upcoming Wii U version of Gearbox Software’s Aliens: Colonial Marines.
They simply stated that, “SEGA can confirm that the Wii U SKU of Aliens: Colonial Marines is no longer in development.”
The oft-delayed first person shooter based on the popular film franchise has been under a lot of fire and controversy following the innumerable bugs it shipped with, a less than passing resemblance to previews showcased years prior and CEO Randy Pitchford’s attempts at dodging fan questions on Twitter.
Despite all this, the game actually did quite well in places like the UK, garnering the top spot when it debuted. Pitchford did state that the Wii U version was up to SEGA at the end of the day.
That this was meant to be the most true-to-form version of the game is irrelevant at this point.
