The next few years are going to be pretty interesting to watch for the gaming industry. Streaming is becoming a big part of everything, with the likes of Stadia, xCloud and Sony’s PS Now becoming more prominent. Google’s foray into it has been bumpy, by most accounts, but they also aren’t the only non-gaming based multibillion dollar company that’s looking to get in on this weird future.
According to a report via CNET, Amazon will announce a new game streaming service sometime next year. This isn’t the first we heard of this, as it was reported a long time ago that Amazon was building up a launch library for some type of gaming service or console, but this is the first we’ve heard of a time frame for when to expect an announcement.
Gaming streaming is something most major companies are pushing for, and could change the industry on a fundamental level. But there’s still a lot of issues that it faces that no one has any real answers for, such as the heavy amount of data usage gaming needs, something we’re seeing as huge issue for Stadia early on. Is Amazon the one that can step in and fix this somehow? Only time will tell.
