Angry Birds Studio to Release 130 Employees

Chief executive Mikael Hed says it's better to make these changes sooner than later.

Rovio Entertainment chief executive Mikael Hed has recently revealed that the Angry Birds developer will be focusing on several key aspects of its business and sadly, that means reducing the number of employees currently at the studio. This is equal to roughly 16 percent of its total employee base.

“Unfortunately, we also need to consider possible employee reductions of a maximum of 130 people in Finland.

“It is never easy to consider changes like this, but it is better to do them sooner rather than later, when we are in a good place to reignite growth.”

It’s an interesting since Rovio signed on several celebrities to act in its upcoming Angry Birds film in 2016. However, despite the overall success of the company’s franchise, profits have declined substantially – it’s latest financial report indicated a 50 percent decrease in profits.

What are your thoughts on this many employees leaving the studio? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
