Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ First Review Is In

Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu gives the game a glowing recommendation.

While it’s true that Nintendo’s lineup of major releases for the Nintendo Switch this year is looking quite light (which makes the wait for that elusive Direct seem all the more torturous), let’s not forget that they do have Animal Crossing: New Horizons coming out very soon. People are more than just a little excited to get their hands on it, with the series rarely having had a misstep in its lifespan- and if the first review for its upcoming Switch debut is anything to go by, it’s continuing its hot run of form.

Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu has published the world’s first official Animal Crossing: New Horizons review (via Go Nintendo). Of the four reviewers reviewing the game, two awarded it a 9/10 each, while the remaining two rewarded it a 10/10 each, making for an impressive total score of 38/40. That’s just slightly off the 39/40 score that Animal Crossing: New Leaf got (which remains the highest score Famitsu have given to an Animal Crossing game).

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is out exclusively for the Switch on March 20.
