Animal Crossing: New Horizons Update 1.1 is Now Live

An internet connection will be required to access the first seasonal event.

As promised, Nintendo has released the first update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons before the game’s launch. Those who preloaded via the Nintendo eShop should see Update 1.1 automatically downloaded. Patch notes can be seen here though they’re in Japanese.

Fortunately, Reddit user notamooglekupo has posted a translation of the same. The update adds support for the first free seasonal event, Bunny Day, which goes live in April. However, it notes that players will not be able to access the event by setting their system dates forward. “An Internet connection will be required to check the real date when the event first starts on 4/1, after which the event can be enjoyed with no Internet connection. Also worth noting that the user playing must have a connected Nintendo account when this check is performed.”

Nintendo Switch Online app features will also be enabled starting tomorrow at 1 PM JST. Some items included with the update are a Nintendo Switch furniture item and a rug earned through Nook Miles for Switch Online members. Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp players can visit the Resident Services machine for PC items though more information will be provided on this later.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons releases tomorrow for Nintendo Switch. Unlike previous games, players travel to a deserted island and turn it into a village, starting with tents and crafting tools before building houses. The title has received tons of praise from critics already – head here for all the reviews.
