Apple Reportedly Plans To Release VR Headset In 2022

The tech giant looks at a new format for next year.

While one may not instantly think of Apple in terms of their gaming input, they have had their fingers in it for quite some time. There is, obviously, mobile gaming with iOS as well as their Apple Arcade service that released in 2019 with curtailed listing of smaller games. Now it looks like they could potentially be entering a new market relatively soon.

In a report from 2019, it was said that Apple was looking to release headset that is going to combine elements of VR and AR. In a follow up to that report, Bloomberg is reporting that they are now aiming to have a VR headset to market sometime next year. It seems this device, whatever it’ll be called, will mostly focus on the VR aspect with AR elements coming in later devices.

There isn’t any explicit mention here of gaming in relation to the VR headset, but considering Apple’s current stock in gaming and the natural fit from other companies doing video games in VR it most likely will have that element there, even if it’s doubtful Apple will invest in big titles like Sony or Facebook has. No other information is known yet, such as a name or pricing, and we’ll keep you updated as more info comes out.
