Nintendo just concluded its ARMS focused Nintendo Direct, and there is so much to digest. A lot of what they showed off was just them elaborating on things we had known before – the mechanics of the game, the different fighters, the unique abilities of the equipable ARMS, and so on.
However, there was a lot of new information, too- such as how the game will be absolutely loaded with game modes at launch. There will be a Grand Prix mode (which is the closest to a traditional Arcade mode the game has), plus Versus, which has 1v1 fights, 2v1 fights, tag team fights, a variation of volley ball, a variation of basketball, plus the ability to toggle items on. There is Party Fight, which can see as many as 20 players duking it out in the arena together (ten Switch Systems connected to each other, and each supporting two players), while there is a plethora of online modes as well, including an 8 player online mode, a ranked online mode, and unranked battles. Then, there are also local modes for you to check out, if you just want to play with the players in your vicinity (and don’t want to party up).
That apart, the game will also be supported with free DLC post launch. This will include new arenas to fight in, new ARMS to equip, and yes, new characters as well. It all sounds fantastic- let’s hope the game lives up to how great it is looking. ARMS is due out on Nintendo Switch exclusively on June 16.
