I feel there is potential for so much more. They should task the guys who did the comic book to make the present day story stuff, and then back them up with game mechanics that are at least on par with the historical parts of the games. You’re right that the Desmond/present story line is just a side story. I wish and see potential for it to be more, but just out of grasp it seems.

Ac3 is on the top ten list for shittiest game endings in video game history. It left every AC fan confused, scratching their head wondering, “What the fuck did I accomplish by playing through this franchise?” The fact that they took 21-12-12 seriously in their plot line and included supernatural beings completely ass-fucked the plot, reminds me of… What’s the name of that movie series? Oh yea, Indiana Jones. Just, JUST like kingdom of the crystal skull.

Desmond, those gods, the stupid portal coma and the overall no templar killing in the modern sections were very convoluted. Desmond only got about 2 hours of game time total in the 5 games he was in so he was really only a minor charater. I enjoyed Connor, Ezio and Altair’s story so i hope ac4 sticks to the historical setting and not some poorly written modern side story.(Really the dialog in the modern stuff was terrible horrible charaters)
