PlatinumGames’ Astral Chain launches on Switch this August, but we haven’t heard a great deal about the game since its announcement. We got a few details on the story and the setting couple months ago, followed shortly by a batch of new screenshots, and now, courtesy of Nintendo, we have some more details, and new screens.
Astral Chain will allow players to choose between two playable characters, one male and one female, and whichever character players don’t pick will appear in the game as your twin, who will also be part of the Neuron, the special elite force that’s been tasked with dealing with the mysterious alien threat that forms the crux of the game’s narrative.
In combat, players will be using special weapons known as Legions, whom we’ve seen of before, but now we have more details on them as well. The player character and the Legion will work together to use “all sorts of combat styles”. Players can either use their character and the Legion to attack the same enemy simultaneously, or attack different opponents, or even send their Legion to attack enemies while the players themselves serve support roles.
Meanwhile, we also have plenty of new screens to look at, which give us a look at the game’s cyberpunk aesthetic, its combat, its setting, and more. Take a look below.
Astral Chain is out on August 30, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
