Everything you need to know about The Evil Within 2.

The Evil Within 2 is a third person survival horror game that has quite a few psychological elements mixed (inspired from the Silent Hill series) into the game. This is a direct sequel to the original The Evil Within which was released back in 2014. Sebastian Castellanos returns in the sequel and this time around he will be looking for his daughter this time who has disappeared in the same kind of world that was featured in the first game the series. Like the first game, The Evil Within 2 is being developed by Tango Softworks and is being published by Bethesda. The game is being developed for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Officially announced in June of 2017, the title is due to hit store shelves on Friday, October 13, 2017.

+ Quick Jump To

1. Development

2. Story

3. Gameplay

4. Characters

Development

While The Evil Within was relatively popular among players who enjoy survival horror games, there was very little indication the title was going to be getting a sequel until the late spring of 2017. Then in May and early June of that year, there were some rumors that the game might be shown off at E3 2017. Those rumors ended up being true, as Bethesda did indeed end up revealing that it had been working on The Evil Within 2. While the announcement of the game was still a bit of a surprise, the release date was even more of a shock.

Bethesda and Tango Gameworks announced the title was going to have an October 13, 2017, release date. That date was apparently specifically pinpointed because it’s a Friday. (a popular horror franchise goes by the same name of Friday The 13th). The developers believe this release date fits into the overarching story of horror and unease. During the announcement of the game at E3 2017, the development team talked a bit about the story but didn’t go into great detail. “The story we’ve crafted for you is very compelling,” executive Producer Shinji Mikami said during the official reveal. “Each stage you’ll delve into is very unique. I hope people enjoy the game, and I encourage everyone to thoroughly explore the world.”

Story

The game is a direct sequel to the original The Evil Within, and although knowledge of the original game is recommended, it appears the game will also appeal to newcomers because it deals more with a story that stretches back well before the first game. The developers have laid out a story that centers around the main character, Sebastian and his young daughter. His daughter, Lily died in fire and he left his wife shortly after the accident. The loss of his family did not stopped Sebastian from moving ahead in life as he ended up getting drawn into a plot by the evil corporation Mobius. Mobius was also to blame for the events of the first The Evil Within. It has now been three years since his investigation into a series of grisly murders that bought him to Beacon Mental Hospital, where he found himself trapped in a deranged nightmare world created inside the mind of a killer.

The last three years have not been kind to Sebastian, according to the development team. No one believed the story he told about what happened at the Beacon Mental Hospital or how Mobius was at the center and a facilitator to what the serial killer wanted to do to with his victims. His life is in a mess, he’s lost his job and he continues to spiral downward.

When we pick up the action in The Evil Within 2, Sebastian has finally found what could be the light at the end of the tunnel. Juli Kidman, another character from the original game has popped back up and claims to have evidence that Lily is actually still alive. Sebastian’s daughter is reportedly being used by Mobius in order to build another STEM world which will be just as strange and sinister as the one we saw in the original game. This time around, Sebastian at least has an idea about what he is walking into and what he might face. He doesn’t care that he almost died the first time around. He has a chance to save the daughter he thought he had lost and that’s driving him to once again go into this horror filled world.

Gameplay

The player will find themself in a town called Union. This is a city that has been built by Lily’s mind (which the core of the STEM world has managed to construct). While the gameplay will be similar to what players saw in The Evil Within, the game will feature more open ended world with less linear missions that will allow for players to explore a bit more. The developers have said they want to make sure the player is able to explore this new world “at their leisure” though they have also cautioned that despite being open in nature, it is a survival horror game at its roots.

And just like the original, resources, especially ammo are going to be scarce. The game will have the same elements when it comes to deciding how a player wants to try and get through the story. There is the ability to sneak and use stealth at every turn, avoiding conflict whenever possible. If players would rather come out guns blazing, they’ll be able to do that as well. The one drawback to that in most of the cases, is that you won’t have enough bullets to take down every enemy you come across.

Sebastian will have one big and important new tool in the form of a communicator device. This device will allow the players to have intermittent communications with the world outside Lily’s mind. The communicator device also functions as the machine that will allow players to get around Union. The device will show you where you can find “resonance points” which will lead you to resources, weapons, and ammo that you are going to need in order to survive. You will also get some side missions through this device. Because Sebastian is a detective, there will also be some missions that will require the player to do a bit of detective work.

Characters

Sebastian returns to the The Evil Within 2 as the main protagonist. He will enter the STEM world that is created by his daughter Lily who makes a few appearances in the world. There is also Nicole Kidman who makes a appearance in this game after being a side character in the first game (although she is playable in the game’s DLC). Stefano, a photographer and Theodore, are also confirmed to be the part of the cast. There are also numerous creatures, bosses, and evil characters that will be a part of the game as NPCs.

Note: This wiki will be updated once we have more information about the game.

Everything you need to know about Destiny 2.

Destiny 2 is an upcoming first person, online-only shooter. The game is being developed by Bungie with some help from High Moon Studios and Vicarious Visions. It is a direct sequel to the original Destiny, though Bungie said there are some substantial changes to the game that will make it stand out from the first. Like the original Destiny, the game will be published by Activision. The game is coming to the Xbox One and PS4 on September 6, 2017 and will also be coming to PC through Blizzard’s Battle.net on October 24, 2017.

+ Quick Jump To

1. Development

2. Story

3. Gameplay

4. Characters

Development

Bungie has long talked about having a “10-year plan” for the Destiny series. Bungie and Activision originally had a plan to release a game every two years but there were unforeseen delays for the game and in February of 2016, the company announced the second game in the series was coming sometime in 2017. Around the same time Bungie announced it had officially begun working on Destiny 2, it hired a writer that had worked on some of the biggest science fiction themed games of the last few years in Christopher Schlerf.

Almost since the beginning of talk about the sequel, there were rumors that it would be available on PC, as well as the Xbox One and PS4. There were also rumors the game would not be coming to previous generation consoles. The original Destiny had been released on the Xbox 360 and the PS3 but it was confirmed Destiny 2 would not be going to those consoles and would be coming to the PC.

Bungie had originally said that the characters in Destiny, as well as progression, would be brought forward into the sequel. In the Spring of 2017, the company stepped back from that claim and has now said very limited things will be carried forward. Bungie said they decided to make this change because they wanted to make the game more attractive to those who were just joining the series.

On March 23, 2017, a promotional poster was leaked that contained the September 8 release date for the console version. While the company did not confirm the release date, they did release a new image themselves. This picture, put on on their official Twitter account, showed the iconic Last City in smoke and flames with Destiny and a large “2” over the Traveler. Shortly after that image was released, Bungie put out a teaser trailer that starred Cayde-6 attempting to recruit Guardians to his cause.

On March 30, a full reveal trailer was released with Zavala , Cayde-6 and Ikora trying to rebuild their forces after a suprise attack took out The Last City. While the game was later confirmed to be coming to the PS4, Xbox One and PC, it was also confirmed in May of 2017 that there were no plans by the company to make a version for the Nintendo Switch.

Before E3 2017, a new trailer was released that was narrated by the main villain of Destiny 2, Emperor Ghaul. This was meant to signal that this game will be focused more on the story than the original game. At the same time, the trailer showed that the release date had been moved up to September 6, 2017. It also confirmed the PC release date for October 24, 2017. The company also announced a few open betas. Those who preordered the game got access to the beta on July 18, 2017. The beta was opened to console owners on July 21 and ran until July 26th after an extension. The PC Beta was set for August 29, 2017.

Story

Set about a year after Rise of Iron, the original Destiny‘s final expansion, The Last City is attacked by Emperor Ghaul and his forces. Ghaul is angry because he believes the Traveler made a mistake in giving humanity the power of the light. During the sneak attack, he is able to destroy the Guardian’s home and take away their power.

The Guardians, along with Cayde-6, Zavala and Ikora have to find a new rally point, and go on a quest to get all new powers. As part of this quest, they will be fighting new enemies and traveling the galaxy to new worlds.

As was the case in the original game, expansions are planned that will add further story elements to Destiny 2 and will likely bring more villains into the fold once they have been released. Bungie has not yet announced what plans for those expansions are going to be.

Gameplay

Much of the gameplay in Destiny 2 will be similar to the original game. The point of view of the characters will be the same. There will be new weapons and powers but they will be based on the same kind fo structure as what we saw in the original. There are three classes in this version, Hunters, Warlocks and Titans. However, this time around there will also be sub-classes namely Titan Sentinel, Titan Striker, Hunter Arcstrider, Hunter Gunslinger, Warlock Voidwalker and Warlock Dawnblade. Each of them will have their own set of different abilities.

Each class will have access to specific weapons and powers and players will be able to progress and level up while gaining better loot in the process. Each of these classes will also have a new subclass compared to the original game. The game modes will be similar to those in the original Destiny as well. There will be PvE modes as well as PvP modes. Like the original, the PvP modes will be contained in what is called the Crucible. The PvE mode will be the main story missions of the game.

Destiny 2 will feature different PVE activities which includes Lost Sectors and Adventures. The latter will essentially be small slices of story segments which will depend on where you are currently located in the game whereas the former will feature dungeons in which the player would need to defeat the boss and acquire loot.

Bungie have also made a number of changes in the PvP activities besides reducing all modes to 4v4. The Crucible’s capture point will take the same amount of time to capture regardless of how many players are in the radius. Once captured, players will be granted more bonus per kill. Further improvements and changes include smoother connectivity, thoughtful use of super abilities and map design getting affected due to smaller team size.

Characters

The look and class of the protagonist will be customizable and upgradeable. Nolan North has been confirmed to be returning to the game as the Guardian’s Ghost. Cayde-6, Zavala and Ikora are also returning in Destiny 2 and it appears there will be more interaction during the missions than there was in the original game.

The trailers and the open beta have shown that the Guardian will be introduced to other NPCs that will help the player go up against the game’s big bad, Emperor Ghaul. Ghaul has more of a speaking part, as the beta showed, than other villains players have taken on. It’s not clear if there will be other enemies that will have the same kind of characteristics as Ghaul.

Note: This wiki will be updated once we have more information about the game.

While there has been plenty of discussion in Capcom’s headquarters about sales for Resident Evil 7 being less than impressive, the latest NPD report says that the game was the best selling title in January. In total, software sales for the month were up more than 14 percent to $313 million and the jump in software sales can be traced directly to the newest horror game.

“With only five days in the market, Resident Evil 7 was the best-selling game in January,” said NPD analyst Sam Naji. “The last time Capcom had the best-selling game of the month (in dollar sales) was in March 2009 with Resident Evil 5.”

Resident Evil 8 was far from the only game to see success in January. Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and Overwatch both managed to make runs towards the top of the list, despite being out on the market for quite a while.

Nintendo Classic Mini beats out the Wii U.

The latest NPD hardware sales numbers are out and it should shock nobody that the PS4 was the best selling console around. If there was a piece of good news for Microsoft is that while the Xbox One finished second, it seems to be selling quite well.

The report says Microsoft has seen year over year growth for the Xbox One. That’s especially good news, considering that hardware sales in general was down quite a bit. In fact, hardware saw a decline of 19 percent year over year.

“The PlayStation 4 was the best-selling hardware (in units sold) during January 2017,” said NPD analyst Sam Naji. “And for the fourth consecutive month, PlayStation 4 Slim System 500GB Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End Bundle was the top-selling PS4 sku in terms of units sold.”

Perhaps the big surprise of the hardware sales numbers were that the Wii U wasn’t number three. What did make the list as the third best selling console was the Nintendo Classic Mini NES.

Thoughts? Let us know in the comments section below.

Huge Tek Tier launching on both PS4 and Xbox One.

Ark: Survival Evolved finally launched on the PS4 in December after being available for quite some time on both the PC and Xbox One. Despite the fact that the game launched on Sony’s platform much later, it was still pretty popular, as it has just passed the 1 million copies mark on that platform.

However that is not all as new content is incoming for those who are playing it. A massive new Tek Tier is getting set to launch for both the PS4 and Xbox One versions that will bring a ton of new weapons and gear.

The new gear is going to be launched in phases. Coming in the Tek Tier are the following pieces:

EK Helmet – Contains a built-in oxygen tank and three different type of vision: Sonar, which identifies tribes, allies, enemies and creatures, Night (see in the dark) and a combined Sonar/Night mode.

TEK Boots – These boots let players scale vertical surfaces with ease, along with negating any falling damage.

TEK Pants – Enable a super run that lets players speed through solid objects. Combined with the TEK Shirt, the pants allow for faster flight and a cool superheroic stance.

TEK Shirt – Jet Pack! Ever wanted to be Iron Man? Don this item then rocket upwards into space or hover above your enemies to better view the devastation you have wrought!

TEK Gauntlets – Powerful super punch – dash-smash your foes across the map with this powered up fisticuffs feature.

TEK Rifle – Powered by Element, the rifle features a scope that can sync up with the TEK Helmet’s vision modes for double the death-dealing.

TEK Rex Saddle – Mount lasers on your T-Rex. Yes…lasers…on…a…T-Rex

TEK Replicator – Needed for crafting items from the TEK tier.

TEK Transmitter – This portable terminal functions similarly to an Obelisk, allowing players to transfer characters, creatures and items across the ARK.

Katsuhiro Harada on how he feels about For Honor.

Now that For Honor has finally launched, the public at large has finally gotten a good long look at what it has to offer. Among the things it does have to offer is a kind of larger scale fighting game than we’re used to. Despite that fact, there are plenty of people who think it really is another fighting game at its heart.

Among those that believe there are quite a few similarities to a traditional fighting game is a man who certainly knows a thing or two about the genre. Tekken producer Katsuhiro Harada recently sat down for a chat about For Honor with this game’s Creative Director Jason Vandenberghe.

You can check out the entire conversation in the video below. It’s certainly interesting to hear about how a legendary fighting game producer sees this new game, that might be the start of a new kind of fighting genre.

'Faster Baby!' will arrive with new features for the game.

While Mafia 3 has been on the market for quite a while now, the title is finally going to be getting its first expansion pack next month. The developers had actually announced the the DLC would be coming in March, but now we have an official release date. The real question is whether or not the disappointment over the release of the full game is going to be too much to overcome when it comes to selling the DLC.

Coming on March 28, the first DLC is titled Faster Baby! and brings a couple of new features along with the new story. There is a new character as well who is named Roxie and will accompany Lincoln on the adventure. There is also a new environment, known as Sinclair Parish, as opposed to New Bordeaux in the original story. Other new features include:

You can now slow down time while driving

You can now throw explosives from your car, both behind or ahead of you

New explosive type: proximity mines

Two new vehicles

Two new outfits

New Activity called “Herbalism” which takes place with the new character MJ. The new activity gives you the opportunity to grow your criminal empire

With Mass Effect: Andromeda coming in just a few weeks now, we’re learning more and more about the game. Earlier this month we got more details about some of the characters in the title and now we’re getting info about the difficulty settings you can manipulate in the game.

The game’s Lead Designer Ian S. Frazier took to Twitter this week and told all those who were interested that single player difficulty options will be unlocked from the start. This means you can play on the insane difficulty right away if you so choose.

Frazier also said that there will be a way to forge one or more romances throughout the story, though he didn’t want to spill the beans on just what sort of relationships will be forged. You’ll get to see it first hand when Mass Effect: Andromeda launches on March 21, 2017.

When Horizon: Zero Dawn launches at the end of this month, there will be a couple of different difficulties you can play the game in, should you so choose. The game’s Director Mathijs de Jonge revealed on Twitter that there will be four difficulties players can use right when they boot the game up.

de Jonge divulged there are very easy, normal, hard and very hard difficulty levels. However the highest difficulty level will be unlocked right from the beginning in Horizon Zero Dawn unlike the usual practice.

Because people are excited to play the nearly arrived game, there are plenty of people in and around the industry who believe the title has plenty of potential to become one of the favorites. Because of this, there has been a rush to find out more about it. This week, details started leaking out about the story, but de Jonge shot those down, saying nothing in the leaks indicated the people who started the rumors had actually played the game.
