Tanks and aircraft were outstanding in BF3. See a tank… get in and go… anytime, anywhere.

Aircraft in BF3 was stunningly well done, felt like real life and a wonderful experience. In BF3… as a pilot, you spawned at an airport, you selected your plane or helicopter to pilot. You ran across the field, selected your aircraft… got in… started it up and lifted off. You saw the ground beneath you get smaller and smaller. In jets, you took off the same as helicopters from your runway and you could fly into a cloud bank for that sense of altitude and speed. You knew where you were starting from and where to go for the action. BF3 Aircraft was more of a simulation and less of an arcade experience for the pilots. Some of us were dedicated BF3 pilots only for our Squad. I felt like a real pilot… and not just “Along for the ride” as in BF4.

Then came along BF4. You were thrown into a jet, in the air, confused of your location or direction… and played. Not much fun in that. No take off or landings. All arcade. Really sucked. Helicopters were somewhat better… more like in BF3.

BF4 got infinitely better for aircraft when those 4 old BF3 maps were reintroduced back into BF4. Aircraft felt correct again. But only in the old BF3 ‘Second Assault maps’ for BF4. The best of BF3 inside BF4. This should have been DICE’s plan with BF4 from it’s beginning. Not re-inventing a whole new game and leaving BF3 and it’s game play in the dust. BF3 today… is still a superior game over BF4! So for the pilots of BF3… DICE screwed us pretty good, even after DICE took months to finally get BF4 to work!! But I dropped BF4 like a hot rock and left BF4 behind and waited for BF5, in hopes BF5 would go back to the roots of BF3.

Now comes Battlefield 1. BF1 looks to be a ‘re-fried lump of eggs’ from the BF4 days as far as BF1’s aircraft. Arcade… “spawn in and fly”! Yeah… that’s a real life experience! With a little more work on DICE’s part… you could have had your bi-wing airplane, on a dirt runway… taking off into the sun… and fly to your way-point. Oh well… I guess BF1 needs that ‘arcade’ experience to make it easier for the kiddies.

I have lots of other rants over this BF1… but that’s for another time and thread. But from what I’ve seen so far of BF1… I won’t waste my money on it.
