FO3 released 2008 and FO:NV 2010. Both games based on the same engine(s). With presumably modified/upgraded physics and engine including weather systems, which the trailer seem to give us insight to, it would seem that they'll use the same engine.

The same studio currently working at Fallout 4, which is Bethesda Game Studios, has not developed a new project(except for "minor" DLC's) since the release of Skyrim Q4 2011.

So if we look at the analytical side, a release date this year is not too far fetched if they started shortly after Skyrim. Two years between releases of both FO games mentioned above, using the very same engines.

Still I'd guess that half a year is the absolute minimum we have to wait until we get to see this game released. Depending on their rate of publishing materials, we can more or less extrapolate an estimated date.

It's nothing new to see games release in the fourth quarter, to accommodate holidays and hence increasing sales. I personally estimate that those who are interested in a game series will follow it's progress and those not interested yet, will still hear about it within three months. Adding up to that, we may, and that's a big may, see a fourth quarter release in time for the 'big' holidays.
