Borderlands 2 Creative Director Leaves Gearbox for Robot Entertainment

That's the developer of Orcs Must Die, of course.

If you enjoyed the hilarity and well paced story of Borderlands 2, more so than Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, then you’ll be surprised to hear that creative director Paul Hellquist has left Gearbox Software. He’s now at Robot Entertainment, the developer of Orcs Must Die, as lead designer and part of Orcs Must Die Unchained.

Robot Entertainment CEO Patrick Hudson announced the same, stating that, “I spent a considerable amount of time with Paul recently, and I was consistently impressed with his breadth of thinking, passion for great design, and humility.

“His remarkable portfolio of work is clearly well-earned. Paul is a great fit for Robot, and I expect him to have a profound impact on the games we make.”

How will that fare for Borderlands 3 – which the ending of The Pre-Sequel more or less confirmed – or the franchise in general? We’ll find out in the coming months but for now, Gearbox is focused on both Tales From the Borderlands (developed by Telltale Games) and Battleborn.
