who cares if kojima has a small wiener, there's not correlation between it and his game. At least he got bigger brain than chipmunk sized brain like yours. LOL

<b>"Making it a realtime 24-hour cycle would make more sense, but what's the point?"</b>
Not to mention the fact that most people game at the same time every day, usually the evenings. So to them the entire game would be at night.

Two people in a 500 person studio.

Get a grip, Xbot. Such a shame for loser boys like you that Infamous does have shadows. :)

In reply to <a href="https://gamingbolt.com/brian-karis-leaves-naughty-dog-returns-to-epic-games#comment-218613">Kamille</a>.

The truth is, inFamous games have never had a day-night cycle. And while some of the most noted open world games do, it's hardly universal. In fact, I've been noticing more and more games lately abandoning it.

And I certainly get why. It was impressive the first time I realised that time of day was dynamic in Morrowind. It was neat-o in Ocarina of time, and even impressive (and necessary) in Majora's Mask.

Is anybody going "wow" when this ancient technology is revealed to them in modern games?

Cycling between day and night every 30 minutes in Second Son would serve zero purpose. Making it a realtime 24-hour cycle would make more sense, but what's the point? It would also interfere with the flow of the story, in which certain missions are supposed to take place at certain times of day/night. Imagine scouring the city in search of collectibles until dawn, then going to a mission start point and be transported inexplicably to midnight. Rather, Second Son gradually changes the time of day as you take missions.

Might it take some strain off of the system to not have to render all of those moving shadows? Sure, but it also takes strain off to not render 300,000 flying dildos moving through the sky at all times. Neither thing is needed in the game, and it's silly to attack it over their absence.

shadows are actually pretty complex since they have to be dynamic. And by that I mean lots of calculations and functions... Not to mention all the resources they takes if there are too many like it would be in the case of inFamous with the many colorful powers. It would break the frame-rate.
