The Destiny beta begins this Thursday, and for thousands upon thousands of fans of Bungie’s upcoming next big thing, it can’t start soon enough. With the beta so close, there are a million questions that a lot of people may have, and Bungie has been trying to answer them all for us. Eurogamer did a nice job in collating all the answers to the questions in an FAQ format, and something interesting caught our eye there.
Specifically, that progress from the beta may not necessarily carry over into the full game. Bungie cites the beta being an unfinished product that may or may not fully reflect the final game as the chief reason.
“The beta is a test. It’s extremely unknown as to what the outcome will be. So, it’s certainly not a promise or an announcement that we’re making at this time. It all depends on what we learn and how things shake out. So, we’re certainly not telling players they can carry their progress over, but we haven’t made any announcements either way. So we reserve the right to talk about that later.”
Generally, companies have increasingly made it a point to have data from your demo or beta into the final version of the game, so Bungie may yet do that for Destiny. Let’s keep our fingers crossed.
