Yeah maybe think sales still aren’t as good as consoles but hopefully they’ll keep the graphics up to date with pc power. It’s like they overestimated the power of what the consoles would be which is why we got good looking games. Hope they keep it up

They did cater to consoles for many many years but those days are ending. The PC scene has bounced back in a major way and its gotten to the point where companies can make more money on PC. No licensing fees, they control the product and services no testing fees no content fees.

That’s the problem however much it gets on our nerves publishers cater for consoles first pc second and they aren’t going let the pc version be a ridiculous amount better visually so hardware will be constrained. Personally I’ll be getting an 8 core Intel, 16-32GB ram pending on what’s out and 2x 8GB pascal/AMD gpu’s in about 2 years time and a4k monitor so depends really what they do.

Keep telling yourself that. Progress takes power. If you are happy with gaming standing still that’s your right but I’m not and neither are developers. This generation of consoles was a mistake and everyone knows it. PC gaming has been held back for about 12 Years because of consoles but those days are ending. The march of technology and ever increasing specs required for PC gaming is returning to the way it was in the 90s. Get read for the new generation.

I don’t know how old you are..but back then we had to upgrade every 6 months or be left behind. It won’t be that severe this time because gaming is too big now but its going to storm ahead at a much greater pace than it has since the ps2 halted pc progress.

yeah… thats not going happen. for a start the only boards that support more than 32GB ram is the x58 and x79,99 etc the rest have maximum 32GB.

streaming, recording, remote play etc do not require a large amount of ram only a small amount for buffering. If it did the Xbox and PS4 would be f#cked.

The recommended specs for GPU are not going to be 6+GB, SoM had uncompressed tectures in there which everyone agrees is pretty stupid seeing as there arent many 6GB parts available and there wont be standard for like 3-4 years.

Tbh whatever Star Citizens recommended specs are for that, that will most likely be the future. Any developer requiring stupid amount of anything is lazy and cant be bothered to port it properly and shouldnt deserve your money

Just because something is good today doesn’t mean it will be tomorrow. The purpose of going above and beyond and using 32gigs+ is for future proofing.
Also consider a lot of people stream or record footage, record audio, or play remotely over LAN with the image on a screen in another room.

These things take ram and having more than “required” ensures you don’t have issues. If this was 10 years ago I would agree with you 100% because ram was crazy expensive but today you can get 32 gigs of high performance ram for under $300. That’s a pretty small price to pay considering how quickly minimum spec is about to jump.

Right now most games are cross gen or running on tweaked last gen engines. By this time next year the recommended spec for GPUs is going to be 6+ gigs vram and 12+ system ram. What we see today is still based on 10+ year old technlogy and that is going to change incredibly quickly very very soon.

PC is moving towards 16GB but 32GB im sorry but thats just a ridiculous amount for the average gamer it wont come any where near close to filling it up. My next build i was thinking 48-64GB RAM but thats only because i was going to install a game to RAM

If the game sets up a RAMdisk for preloading textures then yeah more the merrier, but fact is games are mostly built around the consoles so there the limits.

GPU and VRAM on that is the main limiting factor not the system ram

People and their cheap “gaming” PC’s are hilarious. If you are building a gaming PC that costs less than $2500 its not because you want to it’s because you cant afford it and that’s perfectly fine. What isn’t fine is the acceptance that low end gaming rigs are actually any good. Consoleitis has infected far too many people.

is that comment a joke? 8GB is fine. 32GB’s are for graphics rendering, music editing, video editing etc

My 5 year old laptop has more than 6 gigs of ram.
