1. The PS3 finished in 3rd place of the last generation. The Wii sold the most, followed by the Xbox 360.
2. Its already been settled awhile ago that the Xbox 360 had the more powerful graphics card. The PS3 never came out on top.
3. The Xbox One is currently in 2nd place, not 3rd place and even if it was in 3rd place, it doesn’t matter. The PS3 was in 3rd place and it still did fine. Its not the end of the world. Xbox fans were never used to being on top. For the past 3 generations, Xbox has always been in 2nd place, even right now.

The ps3 was able to sell more consoles in the end as it was more powerful just harder to program for. This is not the case this time round, once both are optimised I believe there will be a noticeable difference in the ps4 favour. People will buy the machine their friends are playing, so as ps4 has left x1 far behind in 3rd position more and more people will purchase the ps4. The x1 still hasn’t outsold the x1 in the us in one single month. A few games like halo are not going to increase sales enough to close the gap. I know it’s painful for all the x1 fans who’ve been used to sitting at the top. But face it m$ scrimped on hardware and concentrated more on multi media than gaming. They want to get their hands on the extra dollar they’re be able to fleece off you in a year or 2.

Actually, public perception can change for the PS4. You see, quite a few people jumped ship during the announcements. These people are the reason the PS4 is winning. If something happened that would cause them to regret jumping ship, then that’s when you’ll have a shift in the most popular console. For example, these people are used to the more robust Xbox Live network. The release of Destiny has shown PSN to buckle under intense stress. Not to mention PSN recently got hacked and taken down again. Fortunately no one’s information was stolen this time, unlike the previous time that resulted in mass credit card information being leaked as well as identity theft. So yes, PS4 has a head start, but if they can’t match the Xbox One in services, then eventually those people who jumped ship will go back to Xbox One because they aren’t brand loyal.

As long as there are exclusives and 3rd party support for the Xbox One, it is not dead as a gaming machine. Likewise, the Wii U isn’t dead either. As long as it has games you can’t get anywhere else, then people will always want to play it.

You are mistaken if you think people will buy the PS4 just so they can play a multiplatform game with an extra 180 horizontal pixels displayed on the screen. People will choose the console based on which has the better games, aka exclusives. Right now, the PS4 does indeed have the better exclusives. But in time, the Xbox One will also have it’s own exclusives released such as Halo.

The PS4 may be graphically more powerful, but it’s not like it can hit 4K resolutions. So it’s not too hard for the Xbox One to catchup. If you recall, last generation, the Xbox 360 started off with superior graphics for multiplatform games while the PS3 showed it’s lack of power initially. But later in the generation, multiplatform games started looking the same and today there aren’t huge differences visually between Xbox 360 and PS3 games. Given enough time, the Xbox One will fully match the PS4.

More powerful is yet to be shown in anything but a couple multiplats. Public perception of Xbox will change and your a fool to discount it so early on.

PS4 is more powerful for games performance, they both have good exclusive games, and public perception in favor of PS4 won’t change.

WOW long winded reply full of BS. Look if all of what you said is true, why is it still behind in sales everywhere including the USA???? Why is M$ so desperate for sales they’re knocking £20 off? And sending teams in to push res???Keeping telling yourself you didn’t buy a lame duck which is sitting in 3rd place. I on the other hand will play my PS4 with better graphics as its the more powerful machine, with wider and better selection of genres and games. “soon enough public perception will change” when???? Its been months and months sales still lagging behind PS4 world wide and at home. Another games comes out with higher res on the PS4. The only thing that you need to realise is the X1 is not as powerful as the PS4 FACT!!!!!!

COD may come out with a slightly lower resolution but graphics will be same. A slightly higher resolution on a couple of multiplats is a ridiculous way to justify a purchase Imo and sadly people don’t realise that’s all the ps4 has over the Xbox. So far in exclusives the Xbox is showing a stronger hardware setup than Sony’s offerings. The nearest competitor to Ryse is the Order and it’s a whole 13 months later. The only racing game for Sony will be DC which is releasing 12 months after Forza and Forza runs at 60fps while DC is 30, so there is most of the graphical fidelity accounted for, Forza runs a more CPU intensive physics engine which draws away resources from the GPU(both PS4 and Xbox do that) so there is more fidelity again. Infamous released 5 months after Dead Rising and again differences in fidelity can be accounted for, Dead rising uses tons of resources to render and control hundreds of zombies on screen at anytime whereas infamous has a dozen on screen at anytime, the city in Dead rising is constantly full but infamous is empty except for the stragglers’. Every exclusive for PS4 has tradeoffs everywhere just to get to 1080p whereas Microsoft trades off 1080p (at least for launch titles not now they have the XDK in order) for better AI, more AI, physics, photo realism and all the things that contribute to making a game not a tech demo. Soon enough people will realise these things and public perception will change.

I’ve never said the X1 is dead!!! Petty M$ dont have the confidence you seem to have in the machine. I guess from the final part of the comment you mean M$ with the X1, so why didn’t you come out and just say it!!! As you say the rate of acceptance of the X1 is low for many reasons, yet again another games come out (COD) where the PS4 will have higher graphics. So when people go to buy they will buy the more powerful machine PS$ every time.
