It’s total system ram. It’ll be 2GB for the game then 4GB clearance for your OS and whatever else you have running. It’s so it doesn’t need to start swapping with the hard drive which cripples performance.

6GB is about right. My system runs at about 2.2GB so if I only had 4GB in chances are performance of the system/game will drop dramatically. You so called journalists really need to start learning something.
