Nah, its been confirmed in the lore community that they became the skin of the Numidium. Even if Bethesda doesn’t take this as their own lore, I think it is better to keep it a secret for intrigue. When you have a secret kept from someone it’s intriguing, as soon as you stop the secret it is no longer intriguing is the way that I said.
